New Armel Elementary School Principal Named

Heather Miller has been named the new principal at Armel Elementary School. Mrs. Miller has served the past five years as the assistant principal at Stonewall Elementary.
Dr. Sovine Receives Outstanding Superintendent Award

Project Tomorrow has named Schools Superintendent David Sovine one of 20 recipients of the new Speak Up Shout Out Award as a 2016 Outstanding Superintendent for his support of Project Tomorrow’s annual Speak Up Survey. The announcement was made on July 12 at the American Association of School Administrators’ Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C. The annual Speak Up survey is used to collect and report the authentic feedback and ideas of students, educators, parents and community members in order to inform national discussions on the use of technology in education. Frederick County Public Schools has participated in the Speak Up survey since 2012.
Sherando Senior Receives Award

Sherando High School rising senior Ben Gustafson recently received the 2016 Samsung American Legion Award for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The award recognizes proven excellence in academic pursuits and dedication to the community. Just one winner is selected in each state. Ben is now eligible for the 2016 American Legion National Award.
