Frederick County Public Schools will honor veterans on Friday, November 10 with a Veterans Day Breakfast and Celebration at Millbrook High School. The event will begin with breakfast at 8 a.m. in the commons area at Millbrook. Beginning at approximately 8:45 a.m., a special student-led program will be held in the Millbrook High School auditorium. Veterans interested in attending the breakfast and program are being asked to contact Millbrook High School at 540-545-2800 by Tuesday, November 7. The event is being presented by Frederick County Public Schools Service Learning Government Students. The theme of this year's program is Symbols of Freedom.

Schools Superintendent David Sovine says, “Since its inception, the student-led Veterans Day program has grown annually and provided hundreds of students with the opportunity to thank veterans for their service. This program has also enabled students to learn more about the history of our nation by engaging in conversations with some of the many veterans who have played an important role in the protection of the freedoms we enjoy today. The conversations that occur between students and the veterans attending the program help to bring the lessons being taught in our social studies and history classes to life. It’s an outstanding program that veterans always enjoy as well as our students and staff.”
