Aylor Replacement Project Update - May 23, 2018

In response to the School Board’s request for a $52 million appropriation to build a replacement Robert E. Aylor Middle School, the Frederick County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution during its meeting on May 23, 2018, indicating its willingness to consider an appropriation of up to $45.5 million for the acquisition of land for and the construction of a new Aylor Middle School provided the facility doesn’t exceed 140,000 square feet in floor area; has capacity for 900 students; will be expandable; will not be subject to any unresolved VDOT comments or issues, including that vehicular ingress and egress to the facility shall be safe and appropriate; and that the School Board will designate the existing Aylor Middle School property as surplus for conveyance back to the county promptly upon opening the new Aylor Middle School.
