Millbrook High School Softball Coach Mandee Madden and Girls’ Soccer Coach Matt Cottino have both resigned after leading their teams for six and five years, respectively.

Madden, who led Millbrook’s softball team to a district championship in 2014, spent six seasons as the coach of the Lady Pioneers. During her tenure, the team accumulated a record of 41-74. Millbrook High School Coordinator of Student activities Scott Mankins says, “Mandee brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our softball program and her teams showed improvement each year. She demonstrated a firm knowledge of the game and was instrumental in starting the Millbrook Softball Camp and off-season program.”

Cottino has served as Millbrook’s girls’ soccer coach since 2014 and accumulated a record of 30-47-6 over the past five seasons. In 2016, he led the Lady Pioneers to a berth in the Region 4A West Tournament. Mankins says, “Matt possessed a true understanding of, and passion for, soccer and started the Millbrook Soccer Camp. He also added to the off-season program and had his teams show steady progress each year.”

Rob Douglas has been named the new head coach of Millbrook’s girls’ soccer team. Douglas, who has worked in the past as a volunteer assistant coach with Millbrook’s boys’ soccer team, served as an assistant boys’ soccer coach this past season. Cottino will continue to work with the girls’ soccer team as an assistant coach.

The search for Millbrook’s next softball coach is ongoing.
