FCPS SSO User Guide

Identity Verification

To reset your SSO portal password independently, you first need to re-register with the Identity Verification System (IVS). Upon your first logon to the new portal, you will automatically be redirected to the registration page.

1. If Google Authenticator is added as a verification option for password reset, you’ll first be presented with the screen below. The Google Authenticator application provides six-digit, one-use keys you can use to verify your identity. To complete registration, you’ll need to download the application on your personal device from Google Play or Apple’s App Store. Once you’ve opened the application, select “BEGIN SETUP” at the bottom of the screen to choose between input options.

1a. “Scan barcode” will open the forward-facing camera to scan the displayed QR code.

1b. “Manual entry” prompts you for the manual entry code.

Once your personal device is associated, the Google Authenticator application will display a six-digit one-use key, which you can then enter into the “Code” field of the page above. Keys provided by the authenticator refresh every 30 seconds, as denoted by the sweeping circle.

2. Once you’ve registered with Google Authenticator, you’ll be asked to provide answers to several security questions. We recommend keeping answers simple so you can easily replicate them when you need to reset your password. You may also be asked to provide your own question.

3. If PINs are enabled as a verification option, you can then create your own code.

2. Once you’ve entered your username, you can choose from a list of identity verification methods. The user in the example below chose to skip entering a personal email address when registering, limiting them to the other 3 options.

2a. Security Questions: If you choose this option, you’ll be directed to answer the required number of security questions you previously set answers to.

2b. Google Authenticator: If you choose this option, you’ll need to enter the key provided by the Google Authenticator application on your personal device. Because you already associated your device during registration, you won’t be prompted for the manual entry code or the QR code, only the authenticator-generated key as shown below.

2c. PIN Code: If you choose this option, you’ll be directed to where you can enter the PIN code set during registration.

2d. Email: If you choose this option, you’ll be asked to confirm your email address, after which you’ll receive a password reset link in your inbox.

3. Once the system confirms that you’ve verified your identity with one of the above options, you’ll be redirected to the password reset screen.

If your password reset is successful, a confirmation screen will be displayed. From there you’ll be able to navigate to the login screen where you can sign in with your new password.

The SSO portal has your resources ready-to-go on the home page when you first login. The newest version of the platform features pages and containers that better organize your applications for easier access.

1. The weather widget provides the time, date, and weather specific to your current location.

2. Pages are used to display shortcut containers assigned by administrators and/or staff. You can toggle between the available tabs to display different pages.

3. School staff may sometimes share messages across the top of a page. Keep an eye on these for important announcements.

4. Containers are boxes found on the portal’s pages that are used to house applications and other digital resources. Just as with pages, contents are determined by administrators and/or staff, with the exception of the My Links and My Favorites containers.

4a. The My Links container allows you to pick your own web resources by selecting “Add Link+” in the container’s upper right corner. You can even assign icons to specific links from an image pool. Items in this container can be edited and deleted from the Portal Manager screen.

4b. The My Favorites container lets you organize applications of your choice in one place. To add an application to the container, right click it anywhere it appears in the portal and select “Add ______ to Favorites”. Items in this container can be removed from the Portal Manager screen.
