Aylor Replacement Project Update - July 10, 2019

During its meeting on July 10, 2019, the Frederick County Board of Supervisors approved a supplemental appropriation for the Robert E. Aylor Middle School replacement project in the amount of $3,200,000. The additional funds were requested by the School Board for a 12 classroom addition at the new school. At the School Board meeting held on June 18, 2019, Ben Motley with RRMM Architects noted the addition would total 13,100 square feet and increase the student capacity at the replacement Aylor Middle School from about 728 to 1,016 students based on FCPS standards. Based on Virginia Department of Education standards, the 12 classroom addition will increase the capacity of the school from 752 to 1,049.  The additional student capacity will help the school division address overcrowding at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School as well as future enrollment growth.
