School Meals

As a result of the U.S. Department of Agriculture extending its free school meals program, all students enrolled in Frederick County Public Schools are eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch each day school is in session through the end of the 2020-21 school year. Students participating in the hybrid learning model will be able to receive free breakfast and/or lunch on the days they are physically attending school for that day as well as the days in which they will be engaged in distance learning. Examples:
  • Preschool, kindergarten and first grade students who physically attend school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will be able to receive free school meals each day they are in school. On Tuesdays, they will be able to receive free school meals for that day as well as Wednesday.

  • A student physically attending school on Mondays and Thursdays will be able to receive free school meals on Monday for that day as well as Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, that same student is able to receive free school meals for that day as well as Friday.

  • A student physically attending school on Tuesdays and Fridays will be able to receive free school meals on Tuesday for that day as well as Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, that same student will be able to receive free school meals for Monday.
Students participating in the all distance learning model will be able to pick up free breakfast and/or lunch each school day (Monday-Friday) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at any Frederick County Public School in a special drive-thru that will be set up on each school campus. School meal prices are unchanged in 2020-21.

On days in which schools are operating on a two-hour delay due to inclement weather, school breakfast and lunch will be made available to students physically attending school that day. All other students may pick-up a school breakfast and lunch between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at any school on that day. When school are closed due to inclement weather, school breakfast and lunch may be picked-up by any students between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at any FCPS middle or high school as well as Indian Hollow, Middletown, Orchard View and Stonewall elementary schools.

Eligible families should still apply to participate in the Free and Reduced Meal Program so those students deemed eligible to receive free and reduced priced meals can do so once the free meals program ends in December.  

Student Technical Support

The FCPS Information Technology Department is operating a Technical Triage Center to assist students and staff who need support for their school-issued devices. The center is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The center, which is located in the building behind James Wood Middle School at 1313 Amherst Street, can also be reached by calling 540-545-2434 during its operating hours.

In addition, each middle and high school is operating a Technical Triage Center Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The location of the school-based centers will be determined by each school.

Bright Futures Food Packs

In coordination with Bright Futures Frederick-Winchester, food packs will be distributed. Food and monetary donations are being accepted. View a list of food items needed. Food donations can be dropped off at the Bright Futures Distribution Center, located at 178 Indian Hollow Road, at any time and should be placed in the bins located at the entrance to the center. Student Registration

Families who have moved into Frederick County and not yet enrolled their student(s) in Frederick County Public Schools for the 2020-21 school year should contact Central Registrar Carrie Vivas at 540-662-3889 ext. 88147 for information on how to register their student(s).
