Don't Feel Well? Stay Home When You Are Sick.Because of the pandemic, reducing the spread COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses this fall and winter is more important than ever. Students and staff exhibiting any signs of illness should not go to school. Symptoms include a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher; a sore throat, cough, chills, or shortness of breath that cannot be attributed to another health condition; and gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea or indigestion. In addition, anyone who has had close contact with someone who has, or might have, COVID-19 is to stay home. Close contact means being within six feet of the sick person for 15 minutes or longer or having contact with the individual’s respiratory secretions from the mouth or nose while they were contagious. A person with COVID-19 is considered to be contagious starting two days before they became sick, or two days before they tested positive if they never had symptoms.
